Strong institution  necessary for effective policy implementation-SGF

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation,Boss Mustapha has stated that there is no doubt that strong institutions are necessary to guarantee effective Policy implementation to ensure better management of resources, and strengthened service delivery.”

 

Mustapha said Federal Government in it’s bid to strengthen performance management culture enacted the Executive Order 012, in other to Institutionalize the Central Delivery Coordination Unit.

 

He stated this during the 3rd Quarter meeting of the Forum of Secretary’s to the Government of the State held at the new Government House Little Rayfield Thursday in Jos the Plateau State capital.

 

“The Unit has recorded significant mileage at the Federal level in the areas of tracking, reviewing, and analysing projects and other activities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies.”

 

He said other notable efforts and initiatives made by the Federal Government towards building Institutions and entrenching efficient and effective public service delivery such as “Public Service Reforms being spearheaded by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR). Federal Civil Service Strategic and Implementation Plan F (2021-2025). CSSIPP

 

Governor Simon Lalong represented by the Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden said the country for too long has been building governance around strong personalities rather than strong system over the years.

 

“This is why unfortunately our governance structure appears to resolve around few individuals who are perceived to be either above the law or untouchables. Such perception whether real or imagined gives oxygen to impunity, corruption, abuse of power, wastages, recklessness, nepotism, abuse of privilege, and lack of adherence to due process among others.”

 

Lalong maintained that the State has made significant progress strengthening it’s systems and allowing them to work. among is the “keying into Open Government Partnership and opened ourselves to scrutiny locally and internationally. In addition to the SFTAS, the Project Monitoring and Result Delivery Office (PMRDO), the established Efficiency Unit that scrutinized all financial request to help Government cut cost and avoid wastages.”
