Reps want killers of five year old student in Kano investigated

The House of Representatives on Tuesday called for investigation into the killing of Hanifa Abubakar a five year old student of Noble Kids Academy Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State by a group of persons led by a school teacher.

Hanifa was reportedly abducted in the school on 20th January 2022 by a man later identified as a teacher Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko and some other group of persons who later killed and buried her outside the school premises.

The House resolution was sequel to the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance by Hon.Kabiru Idris (Kano, APC) on the matter on the floor of the House.

Debating the motion, Idris noted that on 20th January 2022, a five year old student of Noble Kids Academy Kano Hanifa Abubakar was kidnapped and later killed and buried by some group of persons.

He further noted that the abductors of the late student was trailed and was traced to have been be led by a teacher Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko.

He lamented that the school students and other individuals in institutions of learning have become soft targets for members of killer gangs, cultists and other criminal elements.

The lawmaker commended the efforts of the security agencies particularly the State Security Service SSS and the Nigeria Police Force for finding the killers of the student.

He also urged the House to ensure that the matter is investigated and the relevant security agencies are put on red alert to forestall such urgly incidents in the near future.

Consequently, the House presided by the Speaker Hon.Femi Gbajabiamila unanimously adopted the motion with a voice vote.

The Speaker who said that the parents of the deceased are really distressed over the incident urged the relevant House Committees to investigate the matter and report back to it within 2 weeks.
