.Commiserates with Ikpeazu, Abia PDP over death of Ikonne

Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide Abia state chapter has disclosed that they are still in a mourning period due to the death of their President General Amb. Professor George Obiozor Ugwumba, said plans are being made to ensure they will be given a National burial.

 

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide,Abia state president, Comrade Okey  Paul Nwankwo who made this known during a press briefing organized at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo state Secretariat Umuahia, said  various committees have been set up and so far so good, we are getting encouraging reports from them .

 

“Things are really working as expected, we are believing that our President General Obiozor will be given a national burial.

 

“He has served in many capacity before he assumed the position of president General”

 

Continuing, he said Ohanaeze Ndigbo world wide deeply commiserate with the Governor, family members and the entire state over the unfortunate demise of Professor Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, urging the Governor and the PDP to toe the line of peace to ensure that somebody replaces him peacefully.

 

He further called on politicians in Abia state to play politics without bitterness and rancour and avoid acts capable of heating up the polity and truncating the peace being witness in the State.

 

 

He therefore advised sons and daughters of Abia to be mindful of his or her life , conduct themselves with decorum and never allow politicians whose selfish interest rest solely on their inordinate ambitions to hoodwink or cajole them into violence and unnecessary death as a result of election.

 

” Ohanaeze Ndigbo, will set up a bi-partisan Election Monitoring Committee to ensure that all political players maintain the Constitutional rules of engagement.

 

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Abia state will partner with the Governor of Abia state,Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to finish strong and handover to the new Governor in atmosphere of peace”
