Poverty, unemployment responsible for youth restiveness – Foundation

A socio-economic group in Ekiti State, “Opeyemi Falegan Foundation” (OFF) has stressed the need for all well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the poor masses around them to promote peace and tranquility in the society.
“Abject poverty and unemployment in Nigeria are major factors being responsible for youth restiveness in some parts of the country, hence the need to fight the scourge without further delay”.
The founder of the OFF, Hon. Opeyemi Falegan who was represented by the Director General of the Group Mr. Oluwadare Temidayo, made the remark at the second edition of distributing food stuff to aged Persons, Widows and Youths over the weekend in Ado Ekiti.
Hon. Falegan said, the aim of the foundation was to give back to the Society especially the less privileged Persons in order to make life more bearable for them.
According to him, there is the need for people especially well-meaning Individuals in and outside the Country to look around in their immediate environment and come to the aid of the poor masses to alleviate their sufferings.
The U.K based Falegan expressed worry over the level of poverty across Nigeria and called for “a collective effort of all and sundry” to barnish the menace for a peaceful Society. Hungry people are always angry People.
He emphasised that, abject poverty, unemployment and frustration in Nigeria are major factors responsible for youth restiveness and political instability in some parts of the country, hence the need to fight the scourge and nip it in the bud.
The task of fighting poverty and other ills affecting our peaceful co-existence in Nigeria must not be left to government alone but rather must be seen as a joint task in order for us to achieve a meaningful outcome. Government can only do its little part but the onus is also on well- meaning Individuals to compliment government’s effort to make life worth living for the poor.
“Giving back to the society especially the poor is Godly and rewarding”, hence the need for all, to imbibe the spirit of assisting the less privileged people around us to safe them from penury and abject poverty that usually lead to their untimely death.
Many People are dying of avoidable death in the Country because of hunger, minor and curable diseases as a a result of lack and ignorance. Therefore, it is our responsibility to prevent and curb such ugly development in the society by contributing our qouta to assist the Poor.
Also, government in its part must step up social and welfare schemes and programmes that will have direct impact on the lives of the masses. The development will no doubt discourage youth restiveness and ensure everlasting peaceful co-existence across the land.
Unrest, war and tribalism are always fashionable in an atmosphere where masses living conditions are below average living standard because their thoughts and actions could easily be directed by few selfish individuals who do cajole them to go on rampage before they can get their right.
Such ill-advice has been the major starting point of every war and instability being witnessed across the world today with many lives being lost on daily basis.
Therefore, the only antidote to war and instability is, prevention by doing the right things before we are all being forced to do it in the midst of uncertainty. We must learn and beging to give back to the society, especially the downtrodden for peace to reign, Falegan concluded.
