Politicians bury differences for late FCT PDP chairman, Sunday Zakka

CYRIL MBAH, Abuja

Politicians and residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja paid their last respect to the FCT Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Sunday Dogo Zakka in Kuje Area Council.

The politicians and people came in large numbers for the burial.

Zakka died in a ghastly road accident on the eve of the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Abuja.

Vehicles entering Kuje town caused long traffic jams, even along inner link roads leading into the higher Kuje-Gwagwalada highway, leaving commuters stranded for several hours.

The ambulance bearing the remains of the politician worsened the traffic situation as it moved in a convoy from ECWA Church, Sundaba to late Zakka’s residence.

Senate Minority Leader, Senator Phillip Tanimu Aduda, serving FCT House of Representatives members and Kuje Area Council chairman, Abdullahi Sabo, were in attendance to bury the late politician at about 1:00 pm.

In a tribute to the late chairman, Senator Aduda recalled the doggedness of the deceased in the service of the PDP.

He described the death of Sunday Zakka as painful, ill-timed and disheartening.

This is the time for courage. This is the time for high spirit and time to pray, Aduda said.

He recalled the temptations of Job in the Christian bible and described the death of Chief Zakka as a personal temptation, which came at a very wrong period.

Aduda added that he wished he could explain the depth of grief and that death did not happen when there were plans for the future with the chairman.

The Senate Minority Leader and other dignitaries spoke at the funeral service and prayed for the eternal rest of the deceased and fortitude for the family to bear the loss.

Some dignitaries who sent tributes to the bereaved family included the PDP Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Babaji Madaki and State Secretary Bako Angulu, the Kuje Area Council PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ismaila Mohammed Yenche.

The Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Dr John Gabaya, attended the funeral, among many others.
