A Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) chieftain and the Deputy National Secretary, Nigerian Business Communities ( NBC) for Atiku  / Okowa, Barrister Sam Aiboni,  has described the alliance between the Lagos PDP and the Lanour Party in today’s  Gubernatorial and House of Assembly election as a watershed that would save the state from the APC  21-year maladministration in the state.

Aiboni, who made these remarks early today after casting his vote at Foreshore Estate in the Eti- Osa Area of Lagos State, noted that with the collaborations between the two parties, the state and the people would be better for it.

He stressed that the formidable alliance would not only provide the result to  relieve  Lagos State from the shackles of the APC, but it would also be a herculean task for the APC rigging machinery to rig out the formidable PDP/LP team in today’s polls.

The PDP chieftain pointed out that if it’s a combination of forces in form of an alliance that would salvage the state from the APC led 21 -year leadership in the state, the loving people of Lagos State would for ever sing praises to God and be grateful to the leadership of both the PDP and the LP.

Aiboni recalled that in as much as both the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and the Lagos State Gubernatorial candidate of  the alliance in today’s election were both in the PDP before the presidential polls, he didn’t forsee any hiccups in the alliance.

He further explained that it is only in unity that more could be achieved in the task of saving the state, adding that saving the life of the state and the well-being of the people should be paramount at this crucial time.

“Lagos State is on the brink of collapse as only one man controls the state economy all this while and we must be united to rescue the state from this one man and his cohorts”, Aiboni stated.

The legal luminary further explained that in 2005 when the APC wanted to win the elections, the party formed an alliance with the likes of ACN, CPC and the nPDP and their strategy worked, but reverse was the case in the PDP, Labour Party alliance ‘ll save Lagos from APC’s hegemony

The PDP chieftain pointed out that if it’s a combination of forces in form of an alliance that would salvage the state from the APC led 21 – year bad leadership in the state, the loving people of Lagos State would forever sing praises to God and be grateful to the leadership of both the PDP and the LP.

The legal luminary further explained that in 2005 when the APC wanted to win the elections, the party formed an alliance with the likes of ACN, CPC and the PDP and their strategy worked, but reverse was the case in the February presidential polls where the PDP was determined to defeat the APC as the party divided itself into NNPP, LP, G5 and PDP.

Aiboni noted that if Obi and Kwankwaso had remained in the PDP prior to the presidential election, the votes recorded by Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso would have amounted to over 13million, which would have been enough to cancel Tinubu’s 8.7million votes.

He reminded the people that Lagosians wanted a change in government, but this is better achieved through an alliance with other party or parties, which is not alien to democracy and not through division into fringe parties.

The PDP chieftain, who said that the party should recollect that the PDP history was from agitation to return to democracy during the military era, called for reforms in the party in form of electronic membership register, electronic voting  from ward to the national level and taking advantage of the available payment platforms to  collect contributions from members in order to deepen democratic practice within the party and allow the new generation, not only to be attracted, but to be retained in the party.
