Orogwe killings: Community leaders meet with Hausa community leaders in Imo.

leaders of Orogwe,  Umunwoha community in Owerri West LGA, of Imo State has  met with the leaders   of Hausa Community in the state over the murder of 7 Northerners  in the area by unknown gunmen.

 

Addressing leaders of the Hausa Community  at the residence of the  Sarikin Hausa,in Owerri, the Orogwe community paid  their condolence  over the killing

 

 

The  Orogwe community  leaders expressed regret and sympathy over the unfortunate incident.

 

 

Six man delegation from Orogwe community,  made up of Mr. Chukwuma Ononiwu, Barr. Chidi Arindume, Sir.Cliff Ahuaka, Hon. John  Ejiogu among others led by Barr. Oguchinalu Ken Charlse on behalf of the traditional ruler of Orogwe community, HRH Eze Emma Ejiogu, urged  the Hausa community  to take solace in  God Almighty  as they murn  the death  of their  beloved ones

 

 

While condeming the act, he stated clarely that the entire people of Orogwe community have also being devastated by that mayhem adding that the situation has resulted to the people  deserting their homes since the incident occurred.

 

 

He described the incident as a taboo in Orogwe community narrating  that the people of the community woke up in the morning to hear about the unfortunate incident without actually knowing how it happened and where the perpatrators came from.

 

 

According to him, ” our  community for some years have had living  peacefully and  co-esisted  with  the  members of the  Hausa Community without any  problem or security  treat

 

 

The leader of the delegation explained that  immediatly after the incident, frantic effort was made to visit  the Hausa  community leaders, for peace to reign

 

 

This according to the spokesman, ” we did  after we  had visited the house those  killed were living in and discovered that the  area had been deserted

 

He informed the people that the people of Orogwe and Umunwoha community are not violent by nature and completely abhored anything that can takes away the peace of mind and inflict sorrows.

 

 

However, receiving  the delegations from Orogwe community, the Sarikin Hausawa and leader of the Hausa  Community in the State, Alhaji Auwal Baba Suliaman expressed appreciation for  the condolence visit by the Orogwe, Umunwoha community

 

 

He decribed the killings as either political or set ups which according to him is far from either religious or tribal adding that the incident is such that touches everybody.

 

While urging the members of the community to be security concious, he regretted over the level of insecurity in all parts of the country.

 

The traditional ruler mantaind that Nigeria is one indivisible entity adding that what affects a Northerner also affect any other person from other parts of the country.

 

The Sarikin recalled that before now the country have not experienced the kind of insecurity being witnessed today.

 

Also  the Senior Special Assistance to the state  Governor  on Gender, Vulnerable and Northern Affairs (Men), Hon. Suliaman Ibrahim Suliaman thanked the delegation for the demonstration of marturity and care

 

 

He advised  the community leaders to be vigilant all the time in their domain, Hon. Suliaman recalled effort by Governor Hope Uzodimma led administration and his quite intervention to tackle insecurity in the state .

 

He  also appealed to them to assist the Governor to achieve this enormorus task by being alert and concious of what happenes in their environment to ensure peace and healthy living.

 

Also in their various reactions, the chairman Nigre  Republic Citizens  in the  State, Alhaji  Ibrahim Dangali, the leader of Nigre Republic in Imo State , Alhaji Haruna Abdulahi, and the national chairman Northern Friends Neighbourhood Ahmed Saidu all  said, ”  the murder is babaric and inhuman and enjoined the security agencies to do everything humanly possible to bring the perpatrators to book” .

 

They however commended the state governor Sen. Uzodimma for his sustained effort to protect lives and properties in the state and enjoined members of Northern communities in the state to continue to live in peace with their host communities and to reframe from act capable of breaching peace and security in the state.

 

They also expressed gratitude to the leader of the delegations for their sympathy and concern and gave an assurance that they would continue to endure mutual peace and tolerance between the Northern communities and his subjects.
