Ondo corps arrest trucks conveying 151 charm-carrying trespassers

Ondo State Security Network Agency, also called Amotekun Corps, have intercepted a truck that conveyed about 151 persons assumed to be trespassers

Amotekun made this move while following up on the invasion of terrorists into the South- West of Nigeria.

 

 

They were arrested around the Sango area of Akure-Ado Expressway by the corps who were on ‘stop and search’ on Thursday.

 

 

The state Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects included five women, hidden behind beans and rice bags inside the trailers.

 

 

“We intercepted two trucks conveying 151 people who were cleverly concealed behind bags of rice and beans in a way that one may not know these number of people were tucked in the trucks.

 

 

“Upon interception, we asked of their destinations. Some said Akure, while others said Osogbo in Osun state. Although, we have not completed profiling them, as none of them has an idea of what they were going to do or their mission.

 

 

“All they were able to tell us is that they entered the vehicle and came to Ondo State.

While searching the vehicles, we saw 10 bikes and various dangerous charms. If we check and do not find anything on them as long as they don’t have anybody ready to take custody of them in Ondo state, we will send them back to their various states.”

 

He added that the suspects were journeying from Kastina, Kano, and Jigawa states heading to South-West states.

“Some of them claimed they are from Kastina, Kano, and Jigawa states, but on how they came together, they said they couldn’t figure it out, but that they were conveyed by the truck down to Akure in Ondo State.

 

 

“This, however, is not a good sign, following the security warning in the South West states.

 

 

“While respecting their rights as Nigerians, yet, we are not sure of what they are here for. We still feel that while traveling, anyone should have a mission and destination at where he or she is going to,” he said.

 

 

Unregistered political parties pledges support for Obi

The aegis of Coalition for Good Governance have disclosed that 15 unregistered political parties have thrown support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

 

 

The coalition expressed on Friday that Peter Obi have capabilities of saving the nation from a breakdown.

 

 

The chairman of the CGG, Okey Chikwendu, and Publicity Secretary, Don Anthony Harmattan, said the unregistered parties made the decision after researching on all the presidential candidates to know the most competent.

 

 

”We have earlier stated that the outcome of the political parties primaries for the presidential ticket and selection of the vice presidential tickets will determine which party we, the Coalition for Good Governance comprising of 15 deregistered political parties and some former presidential candidates would endorse and support for the 2023 presidential election.

 

 

“The choice is based on identifying the ticket with the most credible candidates who are tested, trusted, and exhibit sufficient intellectual capacity to salvage our nation from the wreck we find ourselves and meet the yearnings of the Nigerian people which is equitable, fair and just irrespective of tribe or ethnicity.

 

 

“In furtherance to the above, the CGG on July 28 held a meeting in Abuja well attended by the National Party Chairmen and former presidential candidates of deregistered political parties whereby they took a very critical appraisal of all the current presidential contenders for the 2023 presidential elections and their Vice, the house unanimously voted Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the most credible among the candidates and as such resolved to support and work with them and their campaign group on the platform of Labour party.

 

 

“We, therefore, agreed to rebrand our offices nationwide as Campaign support offices for the project. Our structures all over the 36 States and 774 Local Government Areas are henceforth required to support the Obi ticket.

 

 

“Nigerians have had enough of the disunity, eminent disintegration, lingering ASUU strike, terrorist threats, killings, kidnappings, hunger, unemployment, unbearable petrol cost and scarcity, high electricity tariffs, its epileptic situation, rising food cost etc and the continued lack of resolve by the establishment to put an end to these crises.

 

 

“We as leaders in main stream politics in Nigeria wish to make clear that only an efficient, effective and credible candidate of renowned character can resolve most of Nigeria’s lingering problems and we therefore urge Nigerians to heed to our advice and support our goals of returning Nigeria as the true giant of Africa and the production hub of West Africa.”

 

 

The unregistered parties were among those affected in 2020 by INEC for failing to meet the constitutional requirements that determine the continuous existence of all political parties.
