NUJ Zone B hails Fanimo’s appointment

The South West zone of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated one of its own, Mr. Dele Fanimo on his appointment as the General Manager of Crest FM, a private radio station based in Akure, Ondo State.

The union in a congratulatory message jointly issued and signed by its Vice President, Comrade Cosmas Olalekan Oni and zonal secretary, Bamigbola Gbolagunte, described Fanimo as a professional Journalist who knows his onions and urged him to bring his over 20 years experience in journalism to bear in the new assignment.

Fanimo, a former editor with the Guardian newspaper and Director of Operations of The Leadership newspaper, had also worked in different media establishments before his recent appointment.

The union urged the new General Manager of Crest FM to continue to uphold the ethics of journalism in the discharge of his duties and promote the ethos of the profession for the overall good of the society, and journalism profession in particular.

The statement reads in part: “As a thorough bread journalist we don’t have any iota of doubt in your ability to deliver in the new assignment given to you.

“However, it is important that we encourage you to live up to expectation and ensure that professionalism and diligence, which we know you for, remain your watch word in this onerous task ahead of you.

“We are sure, you won’t compromise on the best as you are known for the best in all that you do, we however enjoin you to remain focus and be guided by the ethics of journalism profession,” the statement added.
