.Peter Obi’s transformational capacity not in doubt

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has said the capacity of the party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to transform the social and economic status of Nigeria is not in doubt.

Speaking yesterday when he inaugurated an eleven-man Diaspora Desk Committee at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, Abure said the former Anambra Governor had distinguished himself when he served in Anambra State.

He said it is a consensus that Nigeria is not working currently, adding that the country is almost a failed State, of which he said over eighty million Nigerians are living in poverty.

According to him, the welfare of every citizen is the responsibility of the government, adding that where such a government has failed to deliver such responsibility amounts to failure in governance.

Citing the lingering ASUU strike which has lasted for over six months, the Labour Party Chairman regretted that students have remained at home, even though it is clear that education is the future of every country which hopes to advance above its social and economic challenges.

He said closing schools for six months is irresponsible of any government, just as he bemoaned the security failure across the country, which he said is just few of the many to mention in the list of failures of the APC Government.

“The failures are many to mention,” he said.

At this juncture, he expressed delight that Nigerians have decided to take back their country, and to bring about the change they desire, which he said is what the Labour Party represents and offers to Nigerians.

“The 2023 Presidential candidate of our party stands out like no other. One thing that has been lacking in people in government is role models.

He mentioned the likes of late Nnamdi Azikiwe, late Premier of Western region, Obafemi Awolowo and late Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa as some of the role models which Nigerians still respect today, hence he said Obi is the only worthy role model among all the presidential candidates, whose capacity is also not doubt.

While he pointed out that Labour Party has been enjoying an overwhelming support from both young and old Nigerians, hence the masses are ready to contribute to its campaign and growth, the chairman therefore appealed to the media to always give credible and positive reports about the party and the presidential candidate.

The job specifications of the group is to among others recommend to the chairman the creation of diaspora chapters and monitor the activities of the disappora chapters.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Labour Party Diaspora Desk Committee is Amadichi Chibuike, while Chris Omofoma is the Secretary.
