National Exhibition: Conduct your affairs with fear of Allah, Amir urges Ahmadis

The Amir (Head) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Alhaji AbdulAzeezAlatoye, has urged members of the Jam’at to continue to subscribe to   10 principal conditions of bait, which encompasses the beliefs, principles and ethics of Islam.

Alhaji Alatoye made the plea during the opening of the just-concluded National Exhibition of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria held at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

He said this was necessary since Ahmadis all over the world subscribe to the conditions, adding that these conditions centre around upholding the unity of Allah “and conducting our affairs in Godly manners with the fear of Allah”.

“It requires upholding the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) as the Khataman Nabiyy or the seal of all prophets and upholding the Sunnat of the Holy Prophet (saw). It requires upholding the five pillars of Islam, six articles of faith and doing good always. We are united under the hands of a global leader and Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza masroor Ahmad who is the 5th Khalifa of the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as)”, Alatoye stated.

He explained that the “National Exhibition 2022”, presented to the public by the Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria, has the theme: “Islam-ul-Ahmadiyya in Prints and Visuals”.

Items on display included the Holy Qur’an in various languages of the world; the History of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Nigeria, the auxiliary organs of the Jama’at; the Jama’at Interventions in Education, Health and other Charitable Endeavours; the Muslim Television Ahmadiyya, Mosques and other publications by the Jama’at and the last addition, the Minaret International University.

Alatoye, who said the Jamaat was blessed with personalities who have been part of the history of Ahmadiyya in Nigeria, further said “the exhibition, among other objectives, is aimed at presenting the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at and its organs to the public to explore ways by which we can foster harmonious relationships between various organizations both religious and non-religious”.

Clarifying the correct timing of the publication of the Holy Quran in the Igbo Language, the Amir said: “As a matter of fact, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria first published the first copy of the Holy Quran in 1989. The second publication through the efforts of Shaykh Chukwuemeka was launched on 1 July 2022 (which was mistakenly believed to be the first Koran Nso)”.

According to him, the Yoruba translation (Alukuraani Mímó), was partly published in 1957, while the full text was published in 1976) and the Igbo translation (Koran Nso, 1989).

He said the Hausa translation (Al-Kurani Mai Tsarki) was completed and first published in 1992, coming after Shaykh Gumi’s translation which was published in 1979 in Lebanon.

“Works on Etsako language (spoken in Edo State of Nigeria) and few other Nigerian languages are ongoing”, Amir disclosed.

He stated that the Jama’at had an Islamic exhibition in Enugu and established a mosque as well as a hospital in Owerri as far back as the late 90s.

“However, today, the hospital has been closed due to some local challenges. Efforts are on for reopening it.  We welcome other similar publications by other Muslims. The more the merrier but it’s good to put the records straight”, Amir further stated.
