NASS member issues one-week ultimatum to WAEC to release seized Ebonyi students’ results

The Member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency Ebonyi State in the House of Representative Hon Chinedu Ogah (OON), has  issued a One-week ultimatum to West African Examination Council (WAEC), to release the results of Ebonyi students affected by the recent seizure by the Council.

Hon Ogah  threatened to sue the West African Examination Council (WAEC) over the seizure of  results belonging to  indigenes of the State.

Hon Ogah made the assertion in a Press Statement issued on his behalf  in abakaliki the State capital  on Wednesday by his Media aide Mr Ntechi.

The Statement opined, “I call on the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu to summon WAEC to explain why results meant for Ebonyi students were still in its custody”

“the non-release of the results to the affected students will not only hinder them (students) from gaining admission into tertiary institutions, will pave way for increase in social vices among the youths in the State’

The Statement stated that the development would lead to marginalization of State from the scheme of things at the Federal level.

“This is rather unfortunate and disturbing  that the results of Ebonyi indigenes will be seized by WAEC’

“The WAEC examination was monitored by security Agencies and if the affected students violated the law or committed any crime in the course of the examination, they would have been spotted by security agents on duty.

“We are giving WAEC one week to release the results of Ebonyi indigenes or we will sue them to court.’

“I want to urge the Minister of Education to summon WAEC to answer to this development, there is no need for WAEC to withhold the results of this students, when they were not caught engaging in any examination malpractice”

“Other examination bodies that conducted similar examination have released their results, why should WAEC withhold that of Ebonyi indigenes”
