Lagos State Security Trust Fund endorses Miss Security Nigeria 2021….Says initiative is a bid for Nigeria to adopt preventive approach to security

.Organizers describe endorsement ‘a huge morale booster’

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has officially endorsed the Miss Security Nigeria 2021, stating that the innovative pageant will raise a security-conscious nation.

The LSSTF’s endorsement was given during the visit of the organizers of the Miss Security Nigeria pageant to the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the agency, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, during the week.

At the brief visit, Dr. Balogun reiterated that security was the responsibility of everyone and that Nigeria should begin to adopt preventive measures to security rather than wait for the crime to be committed before she pushes.

The measures should include something as fundamental and critical to preventive security as being observant.

He noted: “For instance, a five-year-old child in some developed countries will likely be able to describe a criminal to a police artist. This will enable the artist arrive at a sketch that may disclose the identity of the assailant. This could enable the security agency to accost the suspect. But in Nigeria, it is a different kettle of fish”.

The task of security advocacy and education that Miss Security Nigeria brings to ‘facilitating safety and security in Lagos’, according to the mission of LSSTF, is worthy of commendation and support.

It is envisioned that the winner of this security pageant will be a security ambassador who will further create security consciousness in the minds of individuals in the educational institutions, the informal business space, the corporate environment, and even at the grassroots level using her platform.

The Head of the agency, who then charged the organisers to go all out to make the maiden edition a success, also encouraged them not to rest on their oars as it reaches more individuals, government agencies, and corporate bodies for the event slated for Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Responding, the Chairman of the MSN Planning Committee, Dupe Noma, expressed gratitude and thanked Dr. Balogun, the board, and staff of the LSSTF for the immense gesture which she described as a ‘huge morale booster’.

Also present at the meeting were the duo of the Project Director, Oki Samson and Deputy Project Director, Abayomi Oyelami.
