The Lagos state police command has arrested a local woman, Eucheria Ndigwe, for allegedly cutting a female teenager living with her at Adaloko, Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos.
The attention of the authorities was drawn to the female teen after a video of her displaying a stab wound on her back surfaced online.
The video showing the victim of domestic abuse, identified as Chinaza Aneme, was captured by a neighbour who went on to interview her.
Aneme accused Ndigwe, whom she referred to as her aunt, of “piercing knife on her for not washing [a] bag.”
The Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin reported that the suspect was arrested on Saturday.
Ndigwe, aged 30 is pregnant and has been moved to the Lagos Police Gender Unit where she will be cared for in conjunction with the Lagos Domestic & Sexual Violence Response Agency.
The authorities have since taken Aneme to the Nigeria Police Medical Services Facility, Ikeja to get care for her stab wound.
The victim, who is a native of Anambra state, was visited by the State’s Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ify Obinabo.
Obinabo visited alongside the Lagos police OC Gender Unit, CSP Grace Agboola, who is handling the case.
“Lagos police remain committed to combating domestic, sexual and gender-based violence across the state,” Hundeyin said in a statement.
