Labour Party lauds Abia workers,NLC and TUC for calling off strike,says its act of patriotism and evidence of support for Dr Alex Otti

The leadership of Labour party,Abia State chapter led by Hon.Ceekay Igara has lauded Abia State workers for calling off their indefinite strike describing the decision by NLC and TUC as a great act of patriotism as well as evidence of loyalty and support to the incoming Labour party led government of Dr Alex Otti

This was disclosed by the State Publicity Secretary Labour Party ,Abia Njoku Ajike through a press statement signed and made available to Newsmen during the weekend in Umuahia the State capital.

The statement also state that the solidarity to the incoming administration of Alex Otti by Abia workers is a sign of the great change that is about to happen among Abia State workforce and expressed appreciation to the good people of Abia State for their overwhelming support to the incoming administration

Part of statement reads,” We, as the political arm of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) consider this decision to call off the strike by leadership of the TUC and NLC as a great act of patriotism and an evidence of loyalty and support to the incoming Labour party led government of Dr Alex Otti.

” The leadership of the Congress has arrived at this decision on the 27th May 2023 after visiting His Excellency,Dr Alex Otti at his residence .The Incoming Executive Governor of Abia State,Dr Alex Otti had reassured the workers of his commitment in improving workers’ welfare without wavering .

” Therefore it would have resulted to an unjust act to let the strike hamper the activities of the In-coming government of hope that has promised so much and committed to execute the promises to the people of Abia State especially the workforce.

” Labour Party is the political platform of all categories of workers in Abia State including artisans and business owners , therefore the leadership felt concerned at whatever might have prompted the workers to go on strike at the first place at such a time that the entire Abians have taken it upon themselves to work towards a harmonious transition process between the oppressors of the hardworking People of Abia State and God’s Messager ,Dr Alex Otti”
