From Victor Duruamaku Owerri

Worried by the current state of the nation especially the escalating wave of insecurity, the President, Ibo Senior Citizens, Affairs Foundation (ISCAF) and

The General Overseer, “Friends of Jesus Global Mission”,  Rt. Rev. Dr. Maglorious Enyioha has called for the restoration of   Regional Government in the country

According to him, the regional system would replace the states of the federation

The  Prelate   said  that the regions would control their own resources, have their separate security agencies and develop at their own pace rather than depend on the government at the centre for survival.

Speaking to journalists  in Owerri,  Imo  state capital Thursday,  the Prelate also contended that the nation would only heave a sigh of relief from the unprecedented security challenges  presently facing her if regionalism is restored

He further said, ” also when the states have their own police and the people permitted to have their own  guns to defend themselves through community policing, there would be  much  security  challenges

“The security chiefs, members of the National Assembly, the Law Enforcement Agencies and the Presidential Advisers have failed to advise the president on the way forward and should therefore resign. The federal government should legalize the use of guns by the people for them to defend themselves against bandits since the security agencies have failed us”.

On the recent development at  Senate, the cleric said instead of thinking of the impeachment of the president, dangling impeachment to the  NASS should  try to get things done right

The prelate  urged  president  Buhari to  Assemble  Senior Citizens and Leaders of the people for a roundtable talk, release the detained IPOB Leader and other detained agitators,  for peace to return to Nigeria

He observed  that unbridled banditry, corruption and personnel aggrandizement by those in positions of authority had continued to hold the nation down.

lamenting the non-implementation of the recommendation of the  Constitutional Conference convened  by former President Goodluck Jonathan, the cleric   urged the president to withdraw all police and military personnel in the states and approve community policing  as soon as possible

This he continued would enable  the communities to  have their own security system  and the people guiding and providing their own security.

“Killing and killing by both known and unknown gunmen must stop in Jesus name” he prayed.
