How I spent 2 days ,11hrs trekking in the Bush, kidnapped victim narrates ordeal

Details about how Yau Yusuf 53 a native of Batari in Dass local council area of Bauchi State was kidnapped, tortured and made to trek inside the bush for eleven hours in home state by dare devil kidnap for ransom bandits has emerged on Saturday.

 

The victim who narrated his ordeal in the hands of the bandits in a statement made to the Intelligence Response Team IRT of the Force Intelligence Bureau Nigeria Police, said that he was kidnapped with his kid brother.

 

Narrating his kidnaping incident, he said that on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at about 1:40 am, he heard a bang on the door of his house located in Burunu West ward of Dass local council area of Bauchi, and opened the door where he saw three stern looking gun men.

 

He said that when he  open the door, they ordered him to cooperate with his captors or risk being shot dead by the bandits adding that he was tied and taken to the bush by them.

 

 

The middle aged man further revealed that the hoodlums had earlier stolen his single barrel gun and they asked him to identify his brother and equally took him along with him to the bandits den.

 

He said immediately he opened the door of his palour, one of the three people standing in front of the door shouted at him asking him to behave well adding that whatever he thinks he has for protection had been taken away.

 

He said: “I was later asked to follow them. I demanded to know where and one of them repeated again they will kill me if I refused to follow them.

 

“One of them later asked me what is my name and where is my brother. I later told them that my brother lives in the next room which I was asked to show them the room which I did.

 

“My brother was then asked to come out. They brought him before me and he was then asked what is his name and he responded that my name is Musa”.

 

He said that one of the kidnappers asked him to surrender his hands to be tied or he would be killed adding that they started shooting sporadically into the air and he obliged them.

 

He added that when his hands were tied and he agreed to follow them, himself and his brother were taken away and they walked about 11 eleven hours and some 100 meters with them.

 

 

The victim further said that when they got tired, he stopped on the way and demanded that his brother should be released to go home since he was the one they were looking for adding that one of them asked his brother to go and so he was released.

 

He also hinted that the bandits had contacted his family and demanded a ransom of twenty million (20 million) naira and when he delayed and tried to negotiate the price downward he was given life threatening beating by the bandits.

 

He however revealed that he later renegotiated the ransom downwards and the hoodlums agreed to and collected the payment of five million and six hundred thousand  (N5.6 million) naira.

 

He added that he was released at 10:00 pm approximately two minutes past when IRT team boxed into the camp  after his ordeal as the ransom payment was was about to be paid to the hoodlums by his kid brother on a hilltop as demanded of him.

 

The IGP Usman Alkali Baba has directed the tactical team across the states to flush out criminals and bandits terrorizing the citizens in all the nooks and crannies of the country.

 

The  Police authorities according to the Force Spokesman CSP Muyiwa Adejobi have also assured that all criminals involved in any form of violent crimes are to be prosecuted in the nation’s law courts in accordance with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015.
