Gunmen abduct mother, child, demand N5m ransom in Osun

BLESSING AKOROWOSI, Osogbo

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday kidnapped a middle-aged woman, Mrs. Olayinka Tosin Kayode, and her little daughter in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

It was gathered that Mrs. Olayinka and her child were abducted at about 6pm on Tuesday, 24th January, 2023 around Otaefun/Kobongboe while returning home from her shop situated around the same axis.

This was contained in a release by the Senior Pastor of Union Baptist Church Osogbo, Rev. Dr. Sunday Adediwura Adeoye, announcing the kidnap of the committed member of his church.

The situation was reported to the police after the kidnappers placed a call through to her husband, Engr. Kayode Abayomi, demanding the sum of N5 million as ransom.

“The husband has since been reached by the kidnappers who are requesting that Five Million Naira ransom be transferred to them through the account of his wife in their custody; 2063668027 United Bank of Africa (UBA) Olayinka Tosin Kayode.

“We solicit for the continued prayers and supports of all and sundry while we believe in God Almighty that Mrs. Olayinka Tosin Kayode and her child will regain their freedom and be reunited with their family and the Church of God soon”, the statement read.
