Establish Church Where There Is None – Bishop Nwokolo Charges Christians

Bishop on the Niger, Anambra State, the Rt Rev Dr Owen Nwokolo, Tuesday charged Christians to establish churches where there is none to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He gave the charge during a homily he delivered during the weekly church worship at the Calvary Chapel. Bishop’s Court, GRA, Onitsha.

According to him the Great Commission of establishing a church could be actualised if determined.

Bishop Nwokolo had in the homily encouraged Christians to plant churches anywhere they found themselves as a means of effecting, in practical terms, the spirit of the Great Commission.

In the sermon which he tagged, “We are called to serve”, Bishop Nwokolo reminded christians of the great opportunities he said they had to serve God and humanity where ever they found themselves.

He said, “We have received many blessings; we have received the Holy Spirit and are equipped with many other privileges given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ to enable us function as servants of the Lord and fellow men.”

“We don’t need any other special touch, what we have are enough for us to launch out for the Lord’s Great Commission”, he said, adding that the Lord had long commanded christians to go and make disciples of all nations”

“There are no boundaries”, the bishop said, explaining, “What Jesus said is, “Go and make disciples of all nations. We are made christians for us to make others, so anywhere you are, you are there to shine as the light of Christ.

Even if you travel outside the country, as long as you have received Christ, don’t say that there’s no church where you are. If there’s no church where you are, start one there! Win others, bring them, and make them to worship the Lord with you. When the place starts growing, you are sure to have a priest”, the bishop assured.

He also called to the minds of christians the possibility of their having problems and difficulties on their ways as they propagate the Gospel, saying, “There will be obstacles. Jesus knew that, and prepared His disciples ahead of time”.

However, irrespective of the envisaged obstacles, Bishop Nwokolo counselled christians not to relent efforts in the Great Commission.

“We as people living in this generation should have our assignments everywhere. We have the ability to reach all; the Jews and the gentiles alike. We cannot belittle the opportunities we have”, he remarked”.

He therefore appealed to all christians not to allow the opportunities they had to serve God and humanity to slip off their hand.
