Emir of Kontagora, Saidu Namaska, dies at 84

The Sarkin Sudan (Emir) of Kontagora, Niger State, Alhaji Saidu Umaru Namaska, is dead.

Namaska, it was reported, died early Thursday morning in Abuja. He was 84.

Although the cause of his death is unknown, the traditional ruler who spent 47 years on the throne died at an Abuja hospital.

His death comes three months after bandits gunned down his son, Alhaji Bashar Saidu Namaska, during an attack on the monarch’s farm.
