‘Curfew imposed on Ikare-Akoko community appropriate’

DAMISI OJO,Akure.

The curfew imposed on the ancient city of Ikare Akoko the headquarters of Akoko North East local government area by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has doused the tension generated over the communual clashes in the town.

The buffer zone to the crisis was mostly around Olukare palace,Osele market,Oloko junction,Okela and Owa Ale palace area in Okorun where mobile police men were sighted.

Schools children were turned back,markets ,shops and banks were not opened.In some areas in the town particularly non indigenous areas of the town.

There was peace and people are going about their normal life and their discussing about the crises and its negative effects.

The curfew was the second within a very short time in the ancient community.

Arigidi  and Ugbe markets been the closest comunities to Ikare now witnessed a lot of patronage as many were seen trooping in to buy their needs particularly foodstuffs and soup ingredients.

A bank customer who came from Isua-Akoko, Mr Olajide Afolabi lamented that the crises had affected his business because of lack of access to his bank.

Another respondent, Chief Ladi Bello described  Ikare as the commercial nerve centre of Akokoland hence the crisis and the curfew are affecting the whole of Akokoland negatively.

He called for immediate resolution of the crisis to give peace a chance.

The Police Area Commander for Ikare Akoko, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)Muri Agboola disclosed that Ikare DIvisional Police Officer(DPO)  Ade Akinwande have met with Olukare and Owa Ale the need for peaceful coexistence in the community,

The Police Chief noted that the two monarchs promised that peace,love and decorun in the town.
