Boko Haram commander, deputy killed in Borno as security agents recover AK47 rifle, motorcycle

Boko Haram Commander and Deputy were on Monday killed 1 AK47 rifle, and a motorcycle recovered in a fierce gun duel with hunters led by the Northeast Chairman of the hunters association (Sarkin Baka) based in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno state, Alhaji Mohammed Shawulu Yohanna.

 

Speaking in an telephone interview with newsmen, , the North East Chairman and Commander of Hunters/ Vigilantes (Sarkin Baka, Alhaji Shawulu Yohanna said “we received an intelligence report that the tBoko Haram insurgents have been terrorising the people of Liya, Msndaragrau, Sabin Garu and adjourning villagers where they loot and collect tax and terrorise people. On getting the report, I mobilized my team and stroked the area and encounter them in the bush of Shaffa Taku”.

 

“In fierce encounter we gunned down the leader of the insurgents and his deputy who refused to flee, as the rest of the Boko Haram members fled with gunshot wounds, when they discovers that they will not withstand our fire power. We also recovered an AK47 rifle and a motorcycle used by the terrorists”, he added.

 

Shaffa Taku is located in the heart of Sambisa forest which is a hideouts of Boko Haram sect who have been terrorizing the communities of Mandaragirau in Biu, Sabon Gari in Damboa and other villages in Askira-Uba council areas in the last two weeks, with forceful collection of tax, looting of foodstuff and livestock in the affected nearby communities.

It could be recalled that recently the same leader of the hunters with his team arrested some Boko Haram food suppliers and recovery N6.050 million in their possession at one of the villages of Hawul council area, before he handed them over to the authorities of the 231 Battalion, Biu for further action.

 

He said the corpses, and recovered motorcycle and AK47 rifle will be taken to 231 Battalion in Biu, today (Tuesday) .
