The All Progressives Congress, APC has released the timetable for the February 26 national convention.

In a statement the Secretary APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) John James Akpanudoedehe said that sales of forms to all aspirants vying for National Offices will commence on Monday February 14.

Schedule of activities are as follows:

“Receiving of the Interim Report of the National Reconciliation Committee – 31/01/2022

“Consideration and adoption of Reports of State Congresses – 02/02/2022

“Inauguration of the State Executives – 03/02/2022

“Sales of Forms to all aspirants vying for National Offices (APC National Secretariat) – 14/02/2022

“Submission of completed forms and accompanying documents (APC National Secretariat) – On or before 19/02/2022

“Publication of Sub-Committees – 19/02/2022

“Screening of all aspirants vying for National Offices – 20th – 22nd of February, 2022

“Screening Appeals to hear and resolve complaints arising from the screening exercise – 23/02/2022

“Accreditation of all statutory and elected delegates to the National Convention – 24th – 25th of February 2022

“National Convention to elect National Officers to the National Executive Committee (NEC) – 26/02/2022

“National Convention Appeal to hear and resolve complaints arising from the National Convention – 28/02/2022”.

in another development, Following Tuesday’s invasion of APC meeting venue and killing of two members and abduction of another, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Abubakar Lawal, on Wednesday, visited scene of the alleged invasion, shooting, injury, murder and abduction, by yet-to-be identified armed hoodlums, at Obeagu Ward 3 Party Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Obeagu-Awkunanaw community of Enugu South LGA.

 

Gunmen reportedly invaded the APC secretariat while the members were having a political meeting at about 7pm on Tuesday, killing two persons and abducted others.

 

The State Police Commissioner also visited one seriously wounded victim in the hospital where he is receiving treatment.

 

The CP ordered the immediate launch of discreet investigation and rescue of one Mike Ogbonna (alias “Okwadike”), alleged to have been abducted to an unknown destination during the invasion, and the manhunt of the assailants, who are said to have shot sporadically and murdered two (2) male members of the party, one Kelvin Nnaemeka Ezeoha (former Enugu South LGA APC Chairman) and Chidera Ogaba, as well as seriously injured one other.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Daniel Ndukwe, said the victims were immediately moved to a nearby hospital, where Kelvin Nnaemeka Ezeoha and Chidera Ogaba, were both confirmed dead by medical doctors and were deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the wounded victim is responding to treatment.

 

While assuring that no stone would be left unturned in fishing out perpetrators of the heinous crime, the State Police Commissioner has urged political parties in the State and their members, to ensure they timely notify the Command of their meetings or other political activities, to enable it plan and ensure adequate security coverage of such events, in order to avert untoward incidents of that nature
