Anti Grazing Law: Senator Ita Enang thumps up for Gov. Emmanuel.

Governor Udom Emmanuel has been applauded by the Senior Special Assistant to Mr. President on Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Ita Enang for signing into law the anti Grazing bill without delay.

Enang gave Udom Emmanuel the applause Thursday in a

media roundtable organized by Corrrespondents’ chapel to mark its 2021 week.  The event held at Emerald event center in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom state, was one of the week long activities mapped out for the celebration.

It could be recalled that it was the very first time the distinguished senator has openly commended the governor for doing any good thing since he assumed office. Hitherto, he has always condemned his policies and poor performance which has pitched him against the governor as number one critic of this administration.

“I will not stop to criticize when I see something going wrong. But whenever I see good thing I must acknowledge, the governor has done well in this one.”

“When I first raised the issue of ranching on the the floor of the Senate many people didn’t see what I saw but I am fulfilled that I am today vindicated, ” he added.

Also presenting a paper titled “Assessing the performance of Akwa Ibom state legislators at the state and national levels”, Enang described their performance as a disappointment due to pecuniary interest.

Sen. Enang who started his political career as a ward councillor, had a stint in the state house of Assembly, served in the green chamber for twelve years and Senate for a singular tenure before crossing to the executive arm of the government.

Reeling out his heroic achievements in the three tiers of legislature, Enang who advised them to be strong and courageous however said they can live the advice by facing the Chief Executive eye ball to eye ball in the interest of their constituents.

He explained that Akwa Ibom state  university of technology that was to be sited in Ididep his village will no more be, reason being that Uyo senatorial district in which Ididep is under already has a federal University.

Adding that the university is only being put on hold due to discrepancies over site, not that it has been taken to another state as propagated in the social media.

On the issue of siting of Appeal Court in Uyo which will begin sitting before this year runs out without the court building, Sen. Enang demanded credit for single handedly attracting Appeal Court to Akwa Ibom state.

The media roundtable also featured contributions from other illustrious sons  of Akwa Ibom on variety of topical issues and was moderated by Nsikak Idiong, a communication scholar and university don.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Correspondents’ chapel week was rounded off today with a Thanksgiving service at The Redeemed Christians Church of God, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.
