Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, vowed Thursday that those 200 houses earlier marked for demolition in Onitsha and environs will be demolished any moment from now.
He made the vow while interacting with landlords, residents and stakeholders at Sharon House, GRA, Onitsha on the way forward for urban renewal of the state.
According to him the two-week ultimatum issued for the landlords of the affected buildings to remove the structures that blocked the drainages expired two days ago.
His words”Anambra must be a smart mega city.we have blocked the drainages through which the flood empties into the River Niger. There is war via what to tackle, they are many”.
“Onitsha is dead and needs to be resurrected.If Onitsha rises Anambra will rise and Nigeria will rise too.”
On insecurity and touting he said that touting has gone in the state adding that, “it is no work. We have asked them to look for meaningful means of livelihood.”
He urged the people to assist on the insecurity situation in the state adding that, “we have asked those in the bush to come out”.
“No house, forest will be save for criminals in Anambra State. If you are in the forest come out , we will train you for meaningful engagement”
