2023: AFAN boss list ways out of Nigerians quagmire

As Muslims observe low key Sallah celebration again this year, the National President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Arc. Kabir Ibrahim, has attributed the nation’s present quagmire to ineptitude, political mediocrity and corruption in national and state affairs.

The AFAN boss, who stated this on Monday while speaking on the state of the nation, warned argued that Nigerians should wake up to the realization that “ineptitude, corruption and mismanagement” plunged the nation into the present situation and take decisive action beginning with electing credible people to lead them in 2023.

Ibrahim said, “during the course of this year’s Ramadan, we have all experienced first hand, the pangs of hunger and thirst similar to what the majority of our poor compatriot s go through everyday to warrant a change of mindset on Nigeria’s governance going forward.”

He stated that a nation endowed like Nigeria yet the majority of it’s people suffer abject poverty should cause for concern over its poverty.

“A cursory look at the several indices of economic development supported by the availability of God – given resources in all parts of the Nigerian heterogenous society leaves one wondering at the low level of quality of life among the majority of our people,” Ibrahim added.

He said Nigeria can learn from Singapore, Japan and Rwanda among others that are less endowed with natural resources whose people have much better living conditions than Nigerians.

“The only glaring reason for this (situation) is our attitude towards corruption, transparency, fiscal management and discipline in leadership as well as focus on economic development in all its ramifications,” Ibrahim said.

According to him, “we must scrutinize the antecedent of an aspirant by ascertaining how he or she was able to purchase the necessary contest forms as well as expression of interest before entrusting them with leadership at any well.

“Nigerians must not allow the use of money or any form of inducement to persuade them to vote for any inappropriate or incompetent persons henceforth. Nigerians must come out enmasse to cast and protect their votes to ensure that the people they voted for emerge victorious.”
