.As Police neutralize 2 hoodlums

Ebonyi State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the killing of three Officers by hoodlums, barely 48 hours after a Police Sergeant was shot dead by miscreants .

 

In a similar vein, the Command has neutralized two of the hoodlums involved in the ugly incident.

 

The Command Police Public Relations Officer SP Onome Onovewakpoyeya, made the disclosure in a Press Release “AZ: 5200/EBS)PPRO/VOL 8/257 dated May 24th 2023, issued to newsmen in Abakaliki the State capital.

 

The Release captioned “Clampdown on Hoodlums who attacked Policemen”

 

“Today being 24/05/2023 at about 0830hrs, Operatives of the Command on Stop and Search duty at Oshiri Division, were attacked by armed Hoodlums”

 

“Sadly, three Police men lost their lives, one was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital”

 

The Release added that Tactical teams were immediately drafted to the area in search of the hoodlums.

 

‘Consequently, two of the Hoodlums were neutralized and others escaped with bullet wounds”

 

Items recovered from the hoodlums include One Lexus car ES350 Model, one fabricated AK 47 rifle,  One AK 47 magazine with 7 rounds of ammunition,  One SMG rifle, One SMG magazine with 8 rounds of ammunitio, A pack of hard drugs (SK), Charms, juju drums and charka musical instrument for Shrine.

 

The Release stated that the State Commissioner Of Police  CP Faleye S. Olayele, appealed to members of the Public to report anyone with bullet wounds or suspicious character in order to apprehend those still at large.

 

It would be recalled that last Monday,  at about 2030hrs, the Operatives of the Command on Stop and Search duty at Union Bank roundabout Abakaliki,  engaged in a shootout with heavily armed hoodlums, whose mission were unknown in the area.

 

The incident resulted in the killing of one Police Sergeant by the hoodlums, while two others were injured and are receiving treatment in the hospital.
