Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s tenure in Osun State will end in the next governorship election, assuring residents that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is poised to bring “positive change” to the state.
Speaking after the inaugural meeting of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun 2026 governorship election, Senator Barau, who serves as Secretary of the Council, said the PDP-led administration has failed to meet the expectations of the people and cannot muster enough support to return to office.
“Governor Adeleke must go because he has not governed Osun well and cannot muster enough votes to remain in office as governor,” Barau stated emphatically.
He assured Osun indigenes and residents that a new APC government will usher in meaningful development across all sectors.
The meeting was held at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, and was chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The session was well attended by members of the Campaign Council and all its subcommittees. According to Barau, the turnout at the meeting reaffirmed the party’s collective commitment to reclaiming Osun State for the APC in the election scheduled for August 15 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
“Moment ago, we held a fruitful meeting of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun State Governorship Election in Abuja,” Barau said in a statement issued after the meeting.
He noted that strategies, resource mobilization and grassroots engagement were top on the agenda.
The Deputy Senate President expressed confidence that with the support of the people across Osun’s 30 local government areas, the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, will emerge victorious.
“With the overwhelming support of the good people of Osun State across all 30 local government areas, we are confident that, by the grace of God, our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), will emerge victorious,” he said.
Barau also appreciated Osun residents for what he described as their growing support and confidence in the APC and its candidate ahead of the polls.
He said the feedback from consultations across the state shows that the people are ready for a change in leadership.
“Osun: AMBO is coming,” the Deputy Senate President concluded, adding that the APC will run an issue-based campaign focused on infrastructure, youth empowerment, agriculture, and restoring the dignity of governance in Osun State.
