Imo State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Election Committee for Osun State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has expressed optimism that the party will reclaim the Osun governorship seat in the 2026 election.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the committee in Abuja on Monday, Uzodimma said the task before members is clear, urgent and non-negotiable.
He charged all subcommittees to get to work immediately and focus solely on delivering victory for the party.
“The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election,” Uzodimma said, adding, “This meeting is not for merrymaking. It’s not for any jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service.”
The governor explained that members had already been assigned to various subcommittees and must begin work without delay.
He mandated all subcommittees to meet between now and Thursday and present ideas that will make the party’s task easier.
“And what is our task? To win the governorship election in Osun State. Any other thing will be left till after the elections. But the most important thing are things that will make us win the election properly,” he stressed.
Uzodimma directed chairmen of all subcommittees to submit their resolutions and proposals to the national secretary of the committee within the shortest possible time. He said this would enable the Central Working Committee to provide necessary support to actualise its mission.
“We have only one mission, to win the election. Everything can come after the elections,” he declared, while also urging members to remain focused and avoid distractions.
The governor also gave a specific directive to the finance subcommittee, mandating it to mobilise resources for the election. “The finance subcommittee is mandated to collect all contributions from willing members and non-members who want to make contributions to the Osun governorship election,” he said.
In a bid to save time, Uzodimma dispensed with formalities, noting that members were already known to one another as leaders of the APC.
“The idea of self-introduction is not necessary. We know ourselves, we are members of APC, and we know ourselves, and our names have been published by the party,” he said.
He concluded by inviting members to make any special observations or clarifications if necessary. “Otherwise, these three items are the items for this meeting,” Uzodimma said, thanking members for their commitment to the party’s success in Osun 2026.
