The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15th, Osun State governorship election, Engr. Benjamin Adereti has questioned religion identity of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
Adereti made the remark while speaking at the 70th anniversary celebration of Union Baptist Church, Osogbo.
Addressing the congregation, the APC deputy governorship candidate compared his party’s ticket with that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the APC had presented a Muslim-Christian ticket that clearly reflects religious balance.
He said, “I thank you for the privilege given to me to be a part of this 70th anniversary celebration. You all know Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji who is a Muslim, is also our candidate in the All Progressive Congress (APC) and I am his deputy and I am a Christian unlike the other party, whose governor we don’t know if he is a Christian or Muslim.”
He, however, expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election.
Meanwhile, the Director-General (DG) of the APC campaign council, Oluwole Oke, said the party’s engagement with the church was beyond politics, describing Union Baptist Church as one of Nigeria’s largest Christian congregations.
He stressed the need for people to be mindful of who they put in the position of power, noting that the party’s candidate remains resolute in good governance.
