President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to extend the infrastructure gains seen in the Federal Capital Territory to every state in Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Tinubu commissioned the newly built Transitway N2 linking the Central Business District to Wuse District. The project, delivered by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, also includes two bridges.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the president said the goal is to ensure uniform development across the country through roads, bridges, rail lines and other key projects.
According to him, this approach will guarantee that no part of Nigeria is sidelined in the drive for a more prosperous and secure nation.
Tinubu described the Transitway as a sign of progress and a direct expression of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said the agenda focuses on building public infrastructure that serves citizens, unlocks economic opportunities, and drives long-term, sustainable growth.
“This project is a key component of the FCT Master Plan. It is designed to reduce traffic congestion, strengthen connections, and improve how millions of commuters, residents and businesses move around the territory,” he stated.
“For years, moving between Wuse and the Central Area meant dealing with bottlenecks, wasted work hours, and constant traffic jams. That era is over. By reducing travel time and connecting these two major districts, we are creating new avenues for commerce,” the president added.
He praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for the ongoing transformation of the capital in line with the Abuja Master Plan.
“You have done more than build a road. You have helped shape the future of our capital and brought pride to Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
In his address, Wike called the Transitway a vital link that now connects Wuse directly with the Central Business District. He credited the progress in FCT projects to Tinubu’s backing, especially the decision to take the FCTA off the Treasury Single Account.
The minister also announced that on July 17, the final day of project commissioning, he would showcase Tinubu’s achievements for FCT residents and Nigerians over the past three years.
“There are many things the president has done that we have not yet made public. Nigerians will understand why we must keep praying for and supporting him,” Wike said.
He further assured residents that all roads not currently on Google Maps will be added to make navigation across the city easier.
In her good will message FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, said the new corridor is a strategic investment in connectivity, economic expansion and urban efficiency. She noted that it fulfills another promise by the FCTA to build a modern and inclusive capital city
