The House of Representatives has announced the appointment of Hon. Fredrick Agbedi as the new Minority Leader, Hon.Mansur Manusoro as Minority Whip and Hon. Abdulsamad Dasuki as Deputy Minority Leader after the resignation of the former occupants of the positions.
Speaker of the House Rt. Hon.Tajudeen Abass announced the appointment on Thursday after the approval of the votes and proceedings of the last sitting by the presiding officer.
Our correspondent reports that the House had in attendance 242 members during the plenary where the announcement of the new members of the minority parties leadership was announced.
It would be recalled that the House last Thursday June 4, 2026 thrown into crisis following the purported endorsement of Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere as the Minority Leader by 61 members of the Minority caucus of the green chamber.
The development which drew the ire of a member of the caucus, Hon Philip Agbsese (Benue, LP) had almost snowballed into a turmoil as the House became divided over the issue and sitting was immediately adjourned.
At Thursday’s sitting, the Speaker said that he received a correspondence from the members of the Minority caucus to announce the trio of Hon. Agbedi, Manusoro and Dasuki.
Immediately after the announcement, he also announced that he received a letter from Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere where he said that he has accepted the appointment of the new leadership of the minority parties.
The Speaker immediately thanked the Imo State representative for his maturity in stepping down from the position based on the provisions of the House Rules.
