Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has held high-level talks with Chinese Ambassador H.E. Yu Dunhai on expanding bilateral cooperation in electricity, infrastructure, and industrial development.
Tegbe, who also serves as Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), met with Ambassador Yu in Abuja to advance the strategic partnership between both countries and identify concrete opportunities for collaboration in sectors critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and modernisation agenda.
Ambassador Yu congratulated Tegbe on his appointment as Minister of Power and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit and bilateral agreements reached by both leaders.
He stressed that sustained cooperation in energy and power infrastructure is essential to elevating the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and delivering measurable benefits to citizens of both nations.
Responding, Tegbe described China as an “indispensable development partner” and pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Chinese Embassy and relevant Chinese institutions on practical initiatives in power infrastructure, manufacturing, and modern agricultural development.
The minister said enhanced Nigeria-China cooperation would not only accelerate Nigeria’s development objectives but also support broader continental efforts toward modernisation and sustainable development across Africa.
