Bauchi Guber aspirant pledges ₦100bn to fund agriculture, SMEs within first 100 days

CYRIL MBAH, Abuja

Bauchi State governorship aspirant, Dr. Nura Manu, has pledged to inject ₦100 bn into the state’s economy within his first 100 days in office to industrialise Bauchi and boost commercial agriculture.

Speaking with newsmen after his screening in Abuja on Sunday, Manu described the exercise as interactive and thorough.

“The committee engagement has been interactive. They asked a lot of questions and we gave the answers as far as we could,” he said.

The aspirant clarified that the ₦100 bn fund is not for security but for economic transformation.

“It is meant to support the commercialisation of agriculture and small-scale enterprises. It is part of my three-point agenda for the state,” he explained.

Manu said the fund would target farmers and micro businesses to move Bauchi from subsistence to commercial production.

He noted that unlocking the state’s agricultural potential would drive job creation and raise Internally Generated Revenue.

On security, he said his three-point agenda also covers peace and stability, though he did not link the ₦100 billion directly to security spending. He maintained that economic empowerment would complement efforts to maintain peace in the state.

When asked about moves for consensus among Bauchi APC aspirants, Manu said he was not part of any such arrangement. “Well, I am not aware of any consensus in Bauchi. I have been preparing for elections,” he stated.

He ruled out stepping down for any contender. “I have no intention of stepping down for anybody,” Manu said, insisting he remains fully in the race to secure the party’s ticket.

The governorship hopeful said his blueprint focuses on continuity of legacy projects, agricultural commercialisation, and strengthening unity among Bauchi’s diverse communities.

Manu added that Bauchi needs deliberate investment in small-scale enterprises to absorb its growing youth population and reduce poverty across the state.

For a better society
