A total of 1,953 corps members have been sworn-in by the national youth service Clcorps (NYSC) for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation exercise and mandatory one-year service in Bayelsa.
The swearing-in took place at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma local government of Bayelsa on Friday.
Our correspondent reports that the Bayelsa Chief Judge, Justice Matilda Ayimieye, represented by Justice Inikade Eradiri, administered the Oath of allegiance on the corps members.
In his welcome address, the Bayelsa NYSC coordinator, Mr Daniel Pepple, said 1,953 corps members registered for the mandatory orientation.
He said that two days ago the corps members have stated acclamitizing with themselves with the environment of the camp, as they are ready to serve their father’s land.
According to him,I congratulate you in your final exams that made you to qualify to be in the camp today.
He said that the orientation is for 21 days, after then they will be posted to their place of primary assignment.
The Bayelsa coordinator urged the corps members to make their service to Bayelsa and be ready to proffer solutions.
He urged the corps members to be serious in all they do in the cause of their service to Bayelsa and the nation at large.
People appeal to the corps members to make themselves available to all that will be thought and done in the NYSC orientation camp.
He commended the State Governor, Douye Diri, for his visit to the orientation camp before the commencement of the batch a stream 2 camping,and also acknowledged all the invited guest and the camp officials.
In his remarks, gov. Diri said that orientation camp was important to national service, and commended all camp officials and the corps members in Bayelsa.
He urged the corps members to have tolerance and unity for one another in the NYSC orientation camp and beyond.
Diri, represented by the executive assistant to the governor on NYSC Matter, Mr Wisdom Poyeri, said Bayelsa government has welcome them with open hands and they should see it as an opportunity to serve their nation.
He said that the Bayelsa government is ready to support them as they serve in Bayelsa for one year,urging them to contribute meaningfully to their place of primary assignment.
The governor pledged the Bayelsa government’s committed to their welfare and safety, as they remain in Bayelsa.
