The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a minor change to the reporting time for candidates participating in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with specific emphasis on those slated for the first session.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the examination body disclosed that candidates assigned to the first session are now to be at their designated centres by 7:00 a.m., replacing the previously announced 6:30 a.m. arrival time.
Despite the adjustment in arrival time, JAMB maintained that the examination itself will still begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 10:30 a.m.
“Attention 2026 UTME Candidates: This is to notify you of a slight adjustment to the arrival scheduled time, particularly for the first session, which is now 7:00am as against the earlier published 6:30am, while the scheduled start time for the session is now 8:30 am and end time 10:30 am,” the board stated.
The board further assured candidates that there is no need to reprint their examination slips as a result of the updated schedule.
According to JAMB, the comprehensive daily timetable features four sessions running from Monday through Friday, with revised timings across all groups aimed at improving coordination and efficiency at Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
The modification follows repeated concerns raised by candidates and parents over the difficulties associated with very early morning movement, including safety risks on roads before daylight and transportation challenges for those travelling from far distances.
The 2026 UTME is billed to take place between Thursday, April 16, and Saturday, April 25, 2026.
