… Says residents should plan movements tomorrow
. As state begins prosecution of 48 alleged tax defaulters

Lagos State government is ready to showcase landmark achievements as President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate legacy projects embarked upon by the State Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
The projects slated for commissioning during President’s visit on April 8 and 9 are: Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President and Mid- level Agro- Produce Hub, Abijo, Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Others are: Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building and Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, which comprises 36 public schools.
This was disclosed during a press conference led by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso at Alausa, Ikeja.
Other state government officials present at the briefing included the Commissioner for Agric and Food System, Ms Abisola Olusanya, Special Advisers to the Governor on e-GIS and Urban Development, Dr Olajide Babatunde, Works, Adekunle Olajide, Infrastructure, Engr Olufemi Daramola, Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile among others.
The government therefore advised Lagosians to plan their travel times to avoid unnecessary traffic bottlenecks around the areas that the commissioning will be taken place.
Omotoso explained that the projects were carefully conceived and executed to address the growing needs of the population, ease mobility and stimulate economic activities.
Omotoso said, “This visit is not only significant for Lagos State but also for the entire nation, as it underscores the continued commitment of government at all levels to infrastructural development, economic growth, and improved quality of life for our citizens.
“Lagos, as we all know, remains the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria and a hub of innovation, enterprise, and resilience.
“President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate key infrastructure projects executed by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu/ Obafemi Hamzat administration.
“These projects reflect our commitment to development and improved living standards. Among the projects slated for inauguration is the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, which is expected to ease traffic congestion across the metropolis.
“Also scheduled are the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building, which is expected to transform our land records, among other functioning, and a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President. A newly completed school complex will also be inaugurated. There is, also, the Mid- level Agro- Produce Hub, Abijo, Ibeju Lekki, Lekki-Epe expressway.
“These projects have been carefully conceived and executed to address the growing needs of our population, ease mobility, stimulate economic activities, and enhance social welfare. They are a testament to our unwavering commitment to building a Greater Lagos—one that is inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive.
“Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle comprises 36 public schools – 31 secondary and five primary schools situated in the densely populated Ajegunle in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, on an estimated 11.73 hectares of land.”
The Commissioner noted, “Before the Sanwo-Olu/ Hamzat administration intervention, virtually all the buildings at the complex were in different stages of dilapidation. Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, directed a regeneration of the school complex.
“Now, the entire school complex has just experienced a major redevelopment and transformation in terms of modern infrastructure after 42 years of its establishment during the administration of the first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.”
He maintained that to ensure adequate maintenance, “The Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) will take charge of the maintenance of the school building to avert deterioration.”
He disclosed that the concept behind the Alausa Multi-Agency Building, located within the administrative hub of Ikeja, is to reduce the physical and administrative distance between decision points.
“Communication becomes faster. Processes become more streamlined. Collaboration becomes easier.
“But beyond these immediate benefits lies something even more important—a redefinition of how governance is experienced.”
He added, “In the same vein, the Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge seeks to address traffic challenges in the Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen axis within the Ikeja metropolitan zone.”
He therefore posited that the presence of the President in Lagos at this auspicious occasion further reinforces the strong partnership between the Federal Government and Lagos State, saying “It also highlights the importance of continuity in governance and the value of visionary leadership in driving development.”
Speaking on the travel times, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who represented the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said, “We are going to bring over 500 men from other divisions to complement whatever we have on the ground.”
He added, “The public, especially the road users, the motoring public, be rest assured we have adequate arrangements.
“We are going to deploy our men and women. Likewise, our traffic
equipment and public vehicles.”
He advised the public to plan their journey, especially for that Wednesday.
“Wednesday, especially, anybody who does not have any cogent reason to be around those axis
should avoid moving to the areas for a few hours. But ultimately, as I said, we will ensure that we reduce whatever delay that will come with their travel times.”
