Blue house has garnered 80 points to lift the golden trophy as champion at the just concluded 2026 inter house sports competition of Community Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Okubo Offot, Uyo.
Following closely behind was the Red house that scored 70 points to clinch the second place prize, while the green house came third with 60 points. Interestingly the other three houses, Pink , Purple and Yellow that took forth, fifth and sixth positions did so with 10 points in between each of them.
Presenting trophies to the winning houses and other prizes to individual athletes that excelled in the competition, the principal, Mrs Enobong Ikpe, charged the winners to be magnanimous in victory and the losers gallant in defeat, stressing that records may be broken, but the sportsmanship shown today will be remembered forever.
“Today is not just another day in the school calendar. It is a celebration of resilience, teamwork, physical excellence and shared strength, while classrooms sharpen the mind, the sports field tempers the character.
Your team mates are your pillars and your rivals are your mirrors. They push you to be your best,” she advised.
Speaking further to the competitors, the principal noted that during the heat competition, lessons that text books could not teach were learned, such as winning with humility, losing with grace and pushing past the limits we had thought were never possible.
To the parents, she advised them to identify talents of their children and encourage them to excell, adding that no talent is useless now, especially when taken to excellent level, even as she appreciated them for shelving other engagements for the day to make themselves present at the meet.
Earlier, while welcoming guests to the 2026 inter house sports with the theme “strength in unity” the ebullient principal expressed gratitude for the esteemed presence of permanent secretary, SSB, Tom Effiong, directors from SSB, LEC, Uyo Mrs Grace Etuk, ANCOPPS, PTA, House Patrons , her husband, Engr. Manoah Ikpe and others.
She specially saluted members of the planning committee for their hard work and everyone for their selfless sacrifices and invited schools for honouring the invite and urged every official to be fair, every parent to be encouraging, and athletes to play by the rules and let the spirit of fair play be the winner of the day.
While commending the state gov, Pastor Umo Eno PhD for not only factoring education into his ARISE agenda, but applauded him for being education friendly indeed through payment of teachers salaries and other emoluments as at when due, even as she gave all thanks to God for the enablement to conduct inter house sports competition for the second time since assumption of duty in 2022.
