The assistant inspector general of police in charge of zone 16, Bayelsa state, Johnson Oluwole Adenola, has charged newly promoted and decorated officers to remain courteous and respectful in their interactions with members of the public.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony, Adenola emphasized that promotion comes with increased responsibility,according to him, the Nigeria Police Force has fulfilled its duty by recognizing and rewarding the officers’ hard work, but beyond the honor lies a renewed expectation for improved performance.
“He noted that many of the officers had long anticipated the day they would be decorated with their new ranks describing the moment as a milestone rather than the end of their journey you still have many rivers to cross, he said stressing that greater responsibilities and deeper commitment are now required of them.”
“The AIG further admonished the officers to uphold integrity in the discharge of their duties and to avoid any actions that could tarnish the image of the force, reflecting on their service history.
He pointed out that many of them joined the police in 2001 and have dedicated about 25 years to reach this stage a testament to their perseverance and hard work.”
“I was part of the process,” Adenola added i chaired the panel that interviewed you, and I understand the tension and rigor you went through i am proud that you emerged among the few who scaled through congratulations once again.”
Reiterating the philosophy of community policing, he stressed that the police are servants of the people, not their masters he urged the officers to always remember that their duty is to serve the public wherever they are posted.
“You are not posted to forests or jungles, he remarked you are posted to communities where people live.
The people are your masters, and you must serve them with humility.”
Adenola also encouraged the officers to continually update their knowledge, stay informed about directives within the force, and provide sound leadership to their subordinates.
In her remarks, the police public relations officer for zone 16, SP Gunn Ewhoborwo Emonena, disclosed that about seventeen officers were promoted.
He advised them to maintain positive relationships with the public in all their places of assignment, emphasizing the importance of communication and professionalism.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Enieke Kalu expressed gratitude to God for the promotion, he acknowledged the challenges they faced throughout the process, noting that the journey was not easy but that perseverance and faith saw them through, especially during the examination stages where not all candidates succeeded.
