.Turaki-led faction dismisses Wike’s national convention, says event gathering of APC sympathizers

.’S/Court ‘ll decide future of PDP’

Meanwhile, The Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the convention held by a faction led by the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing it as a gathering of APC sympathizers.

The party said that the validity of the convention is a matter before the Supreme Court, and the case will be followed diligently.

The PDP faction claimed that the Wike group convention was held in contempt of the Court of Appeal and despite pending suits challenging its legitimacy.

The party stated that it has appealed a Federal High Court judgment granting the Wike-backed faction access to the PDP secretariat, saying they are confident the Supreme Court will uphold multi-party democracy and deliver unbiased judgement.

The party alleged that the Bola Tinubu-led APC government was actively orchestrating crises in other parties to foist one-party state on Nigeria, citing the government’s poor performance on security, economy, and social welfare as the reason.

The PDP urged members and Nigerians to keep hope alive, while expecting the Supreme Court to rescue multi-party democracy in Nigeria.

The ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has significant implications for the 2027 general elections.

The party’s internal divisions, particularly between the factions led by Nyesom Wike and Tanimu Turaki, will surely weaken the party’s ability and chances of mounting a strong challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although the situation is fluid, with both factions claiming legitimacy and moving forward with their respective plans, the Supreme Court’s decision on the appeal filed by the Turaki-led faction may provide clarity on the party’s leadership and direction.
