Enugu residents seek Gov’s intervention to prevent looming danger in their neighbourhood

 

COSMAS CHUKWU, Enugu

The Residents of College and Port Harcourt Street in the New layout area of Enugu Metropolis have sent out a distress call to the Executive Governor of Enugu State His Excellency Barrister Peter Mbah.

The call concerns the construction of a Gas Plant in the middle of their Neighborhood just along the College road.

In a press Conference which was organized by the residents and the landlords’ Association in the area their Spokesman Comrade Chika Enwerem noted that the highly flammable Plant should be sited in a secured environment with adequate fencing to prevent any accident engulfing the neighborhood,

In this Particular Plant in question, he noted that the whole construction was just along the ever-busy College road especially now that the tomorrow is here Governor have in his outstanding leadership undertaken the renewal of all the roads in the neighborhood thereby attracting more traffic and residents.

It will therefore be dangerous for such a highly flammable Plant to be sighted along the road, exposing the residents and other road users to serious danger of unimaginable proportions.

In one united voice, the residents and the landlords Association is calling on the Award winning Governor to use his good office to stop further development of the gas plant in a bid to avert any serious danger that might engulf the vicinity as a result of the highly flammable nature of the gas Plant, Chika concluded.
