APC commends Gov Oborevwori’s leadership, developmental strides

.As Peace C’ttee swings into action, pledges to reconcile waring parties

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State for his purposeful leadership and developmental strides in the state.

The party applauded the governor’s groundbreaking ceremony of the Uromi-Junction Flyover at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, a project worth N59.7 Billion.

The flyover is expected to alleviate the suffering of the people of Agbor and Ika nation, who have long been plagued by ghastly motor accidents at the interchange.

The project will also boost economic activities, ease travel, and improve security in the area.

The APC noted that this is not an isolated project, as the governor has embarked on several other infrastructure development initiatives, including the Otovwodo Junction Flyover, PTI Junction Flyover, DSC Roundabout Flyover, and Enerhen Junction Flyover.

The party praised the governor’s More Project Agenda, which has delivered people-centric benefits to urban and rural Deltans, including clearing backlogs of pensions and gratuities, investments in human capital development, and payment of monthly stipends to 10,000 widows.

The APC also commended the governor’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing the state’s improved financial capacity to the President’s economic reforms.

The party noted that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has inspired other former opposition governors to join the APC, in support of President Tinubu’s transformative economic reforms.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa.

The APC urged Governor Oborevwori to sustain his commitment to uplifting the living conditions and common good of all Deltans, applauding his impactful deployment of state resources in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, CON, who signed the statement, also praised the Governor’s developmental strides and leadership foresight in performing the ground-breaking ceremony of the Uromi-Junction Flyover at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.

The project was awarded to Julius Berger in the sum of N59.7 Billion with an expected delivery timeline of 14 months.

“By this project, Governor Oborevwori has fulfilled a longstanding yearning of the good people of Agbor and Ika for government intervention to alleviate what has become a dangerous interchange, notorious for ghastly motor accidents that has claimed countless lives over many years,” the statement said.

The APC’s commendation is a testament to Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to the people of Delta State, and his commitment to delivering results-oriented governance.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation has held its inaugural meeting, vowing to resolve conflicts within the party in the shortest possible period before the 2027 general elections.

The committee, chaired by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, met on Monday night to map out strategies for resolving pending conflicts and potential threats to the party’s 2027 reelection bid.

With a strong lineup of governors, including those from Kwara, Imo, Benue, Kaduna, Rivers, Jigawa, Cross River, Ekiti, and Delta states, the committee said it will leave no stones unturned to achieve its set objectives of uniting APC members.

Other members of the committee include Senator Adamu Aliero, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

In attendance at the meeting were the governors of Kwara State, Abdulrahman AbduRazak; Imo State’s, Hope Uzodimma; Benue State’s Hyacinth Alia; Kaduna State’s Uba Sani; Rivers State’s Siminalayi Fubara; Jigawa State’s Umar Namadi; Cross River State’s Bassey Otu; Ekiti State’s Abiodun Oyebanji and Delta State’s Sheriff Oborevwori.

Also in attendance were the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, who are members.

At the meeting, Governor Buni emphasised the committee’s commitment to adopting strategic engagements and wide consultations to develop productive results.

He said the committee would give both old and new members, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and inclusive hearing.

Buni urged members to prioritise the general interest and purpose of the committee over personal interests and sentiments and he also called for proactive measures and solutions for potential threats in their conflict resolution approach.

The committee’s Secretary, Barrister Muiz Banire (SAN), is expected to play a key role in driving the committee’s agenda.

 The meeting marked the beginning of a new chapter in the APC’s efforts to resolve internal conflicts.

The APC has faced several challenges in recent times, including defections and internal squabbles.

The committee’s formation was seen as a step towards addressing these issues and strengthening the party.

Governor Buni’s leadership will hopefully bring stability and cohesion to the party.

 His experience as a former national chairman of the APC will likely come in handy in navigating the committee’s work.

The committee’s focus on conflict resolution and mobilisation is timely, given the party’s preparations for future elections.

Resolving internal conflicts will be crucial to the party’s success at the polls.

The APC’s efforts to resolve conflicts are expected to yield positive results, with the committee playing a key role in the process.

The party’s leadership has expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver positive results.

 

Also, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has expressed optimism about the success of the ongoing nationwide electronic membership registration exercise.

The party said that it was making progress in its conduct of the registration exercise in the state

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, on Tuesday, the party said it projects at least 350,000 registered members by the end of the exercise on Jan. 30.

The statement praised party leaders and stakeholders who have worked together to overcome challenges that threatened the smooth conduct of the membership registration exercise in the state.

“There were some challenges related to logistics and other issues, but our leaders turned things around, and we were able to overcome them.

“They showed the same energy and passion that facilitated the successful Open Air Stakeholders’ Meetings in all 14 federal constituencies, restoring our pacesetters’ status.

“The party expects to have over 350,000 organic members by January 30 and will use this to achieve its objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“In 2023, we delivered 449,884 votes for President Bola Tinubu, and this time, we’ll increase it by about 40 per cent.

“We’ll leverage our population strength to mobilise voters and reclaim power in the state in 2027,” it said.

The party appealed to residents across Oyo State to take advantage of the registration exercise.

“Those who are 18 years and above should visit registration centers with their National Identification Number (NIN), Permanent Voter Card (PVC), and other personal details to get registered.

“Duly registered members will participate in party activities, indicating their readiness to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” the APC stated.

The APC had announced a fresh registration of members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, aimed at creating a database for management, planning, and strategy. (NAN)
