Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the president has performed well and deserves another four years to consolidate ongoing reforms.
Araraume made the declaration while speaking to newsmen at his country home in Isiebu community, Imo State.
The senator commended Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a transformative framework that will positively reshape Nigeria’s development.
He cited the removal of subsidy and the end of subsidy fraud, which has enabled the channelling of more funds to the two tiers of government.
Sen. Araraume also praised Tinubu’s advocacy for Local Government autonomy, saying it was vital for grassroots development, better service delivery, and true federalism.
He noted that the president had compelled state governors to comply with a Supreme Court ruling for direct financial allocation to councils.
The senator highlighted key policy achievements by the administration, including economic revitalisation, unification of exchange rates, and implementation of new tax reforms and stated that these reforms were repositioning the country for sustainable growth and stability.
Araraume also emphasised the social investment programme of the Tinubu administration, citing the launch of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to promote access to higher education and added that the programme was strengthening social intervention and expanding youth initiatives.
The senator cautioned against inaccurate narratives about the ruling party and the nation’s political structure, stressing that Nigeria is not a one-party state but said the country operates a multiparty democracy with over 40 registered political parties, reflecting democratic freedom and political plurality.
Araraume said every Nigerian has the freedom to join any political party of choice, noting that members who joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) were neither forced nor coerced, explaining that political realignments are not new in the country.
The senator said the APC functions as one family, with collaboration across the federal, state, and local government levels and added that the party remains united behind Tinubu’s re-election bid and has commenced an electronic registration exercise for members.
Araraume disclosed that Governor Hope Uzodimma is serving his final tenure in Imo State and he expressed confidence that whoever the party presents would be competent and acceptable to the people.
He said the party would support its eventual candidates across all levels in the state.
The senator recalled his role in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign, saying the president appointed him national director of trade and economy for Southern Nigeria.
He also expressed confidence that Tinubu would deliver even stronger performance if given another opportunity.
