The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) Chief Executive, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has revealed her strategy for transforming the country’s upstream sector, focusing on three key areas
Which according to her, includes : maximizing production and revenue, ensuring regulatory predictability and efficiency, and promoting safe, governed, and sustainable operations.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting in Lagos, Eyesan outlined her vision, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s goal of increasing oil production to 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million barrels per day by 2030.
A press statement issued by Eniola Akinkuotu Head, Media and Strategic Communication, emphasized the need to recover shut-in volumes, reduce losses, and accelerate time-to-first oil without increasing costs or burdens.
To achieve regulatory predictability, Eyesan plans to run regulations like a service, enforce rules transparently, and make timely decisions.
She also aims to strengthen governance, process safety, and host community outcomes, while promoting decarbonization.
Eyesan invited stakeholders to submit projects for consideration, particularly mature opportunities, by the end of Q1 2026.
She emphasized the NUPRC’s commitment to eliminating conflicting regulatory actions and reducing friction, the statement said.
