EBENEZER ADUROKIYA, Warri

The Delta State Government has urged suitably qualified youths of the state, both male and female, to take advantage of the ongoing recruitment of constables into the Nigeria Police Force, following a directive by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The call was made in a statement issued on behalf of the state government by the Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, who disclosed that the Police Service Commission (PSC) has commenced applications for the enlistment of police constables nationwide.

According to the statement, the recruitment exercise is open to qualified Nigerians, with special encouragement extended to eligible youths of Delta State origin.

Applications are to be submitted online, free of charge, via the official Nigeria Police recruitment portal at https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

Dr Oghenesivbe said the Delta State Government, through the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, is mobilising and encouraging all qualified applicants from the state to apply promptly.

The committee has also been mandated to provide necessary guidance and assistance to applicants throughout the recruitment process.

He noted that the exercise aligns with the job and wealth creation agenda of Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, which is aimed at expanding employment opportunities for youths and strengthening security across the country.

The recruitment portal opened on December 15, 2025, and will close on January 25, 2026.

The exercise covers general duty recruitment as well as several specialist roles, including medical assistants, drivers, mechanics, auto electricians, forensic assistants, robotics and drone operators, EOD-CBRN operatives, dog handlers, horse riders, marine and boat technicians, artisans, information technology personnel, communication specialists, band men and musical equipment suppliers, among others.

Applicants for general duty positions must be between 18 and 25 years of age, while specialist applicants must not be above 28 years.

General duty applicants are required to possess a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE, NECO or equivalent examinations in not more than two sittings.

Specialist applicants must have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, relevant trade test certificates, and a minimum of three years’ experience in their chosen fields.

All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN), functional email address and phone number, and also be of good character with no criminal record.

Additional requirements include physical and mental fitness, submission of two character referees, and compliance with stipulated height and chest measurements for general duty applicants.

Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of entry or during the training period.

“All applicants will undergo physical and medical examinations, aptitude tests and background checks as part of the recruitment process,” Dr Oghenesivbe stated.

The Delta State Government wishes all applicants of Delta State origin success throughout the recruitment exercise.
