The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued a statement clarifying that a purported response to recent allegations against its Authority Chief Executive, Engr Farouk Ahmed, is false.
In a statement, Engr. Ahmed categorically denied making the alleged statement, saying “the so-called statement did not emanate from me”.
He acknowledged awareness of the “wild and spurious allegations” made against him and his family, but chose not to engage in public debate, opting instead to allow a formal investigative institution to address the issues.
“The person behind the allegations has taken it to a formal investigative institution. I believe that would provide an opportunity to dispassionately distill the issues and to clear my name,” Engr Ahmed said.
Engr Farouk Ahmed, Authority Chief Executive of NMDPRA, reiterated his commitment to regulating the sensitive industry, choosing to focus on clearing his name through official channels rather than engaging in public controversy.
