This powerful address underscores the immense untapped potential of Nigeria-Slovenia trade ties, the Nigeria-Slovenia Chamber of Commerce has officially laid out a compelling roadmap for expanded economic collaboration, with the Slovenian economy emerging as a promising frontier for Nigerian entrepreneurs eager to diversify and grow.

Speaking at the prestigious Breakfast Business Forum hosted by the Chamber, Director-General Uche Udungwor painted a compelling picture of Slovenia’s resilient, highly developed economy—highlighting its stable democracy, strategic European location, and thriving sectors like ICT, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and industrial machinery as ripe opportunities for Nigerian investors.

“Slovenia is not just a beautiful country with rich cultural heritage; it is a vibrant, low-risk business environment with immense prospects that Nigeria must tap into,”** Udungwor declared, emphasizing Slovenia’s 2024 GDP of $72.49 billion and its strategic position bridging Central, Eastern, and Western Europe.

Despite current trade figures indicating modest exchanges—Slovenia’s imports from Nigeria in 2022 stood at only $5.7 million—the Chamber’s leadership is optimistic. The goal: transform this nascent relationship into a robust, mutually beneficial partnership that balances trade, encourages investment, and fosters innovation.

“Our mission is clear: to catalyze greater bilateral trade and investment, harness Slovenia’s advanced industrial and technological sectors, and open new markets for Nigerian companies,”** Udungwor affirmed, citing recent successes such as 125 general business inquiries, 20 consultations, and 12 successful business matchmakings facilitated by the Chamber this year.

The Chamber’s strategic initiatives include strengthening collaborations with Nigerian chambers of commerce, fostering exchanges on scientific and technological innovations, and promoting Nigeria as a viable gateway into Africa for Slovenian companies seeking expansion.

“Slovenia’s membership in the EU, Schengen, and OECD makes it an ideal partner for Nigerian businesses seeking to penetrate European markets,”** Udungwor stressed, adding that the Chamber remains committed to providing Nigerian entrepreneurs with up-to-date insights, practical advice, and strategic connections.

As the forum drew to a close, Udungwor reaffirmed the Chamber’s dedication to fostering “shared prosperity” and urged Nigerian investors to view Slovenia as more than just a picturesque destination—rather, as a vibrant, strategic partner in Africa’s economic future.

Slovenia is ready to trade, collaborate, and innovate with Nigeria—let’s seize this opportunity,” he concluded.
