The Nigerian Navy has decorated the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Rear Admiral Cajethan Nnabuchi Aniaku, with his new rank.
Rear Admiral Aniaku’s elevation follows the Naval Board’s recent promotion of 127 senior officers, which saw 15 Commodores elevated to Rear Admiral, 31 Captains raised to Commodore, and 81 Commanders promoted to the rank of Captain.
Aniaku, recently promoted from Commodore to Rear Admiral, was decorated alongside other newly elevated officers during a symbolic “Shipping of Stripes” ceremony which held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.
The event highlighted the outstanding service, leadership, and dedication of Rear Admiral Aniaku and his fellow officers to the Nigerian Navy and the nation.
Speaking at the event, Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), congratulated the newly promoted officers, praising their hard work, professionalism, and steadfast dedication to national service.
He emphasized that the promotions reflected not only the officers and their personal achievements but also support of their families, as well as the Navy’s confidence in their capacity to strengthen national security.
The CNS reminded them that their promotion calls for greater responsibilities, charging them to remain exemplary ambassadors of the Nigerian Navy.
He also charged them to rededicate themselves to their duties and to continue contributing to efforts aimed at enhancing maritime security, safeguarding national assets, and advancing the Navy’s strategic objectives.
Rear Admiral Cajethan Nnabuchi Aniaku, Commander of NNS Pathfinder, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God and extended appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff and the President for his promotion.
Rear Admiral Aniaku, in a statement issued by the Base Information Officer, Lieutenant Commander Bridget Bebia, stated that the promotion would motivate him to deliver even greater service.
He pledged to continue contributing to the Navy’s efforts in enhancing operational readiness, capacity building, and the protection of the nation’s maritime interests.
