TUNDE ADELEKE, Osogbo
Ahead of the December gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the youths of Osun West Senatorial District have backed the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Bola Oyebamiji, to be the flagbearer in the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The youths in their hundreds, mobilized across the 10 local governments of the district and gathered in Iwo on Wednesday to express their support and solidarity ahead of the party primaries.
Daily Champion recalls that the APC had announced that the gubernatorial primary of the party would be held on December 13, 2025.
Speaking at the event, one of the party chieftains, from Ede North local government, Ajani Ayodeji, said that the youth wing of the party threw their support behind Bola Oyebamiji because he is a well-accepted aspirant among others who can give the party victory in next year’s governorship election.
Ayodeji charged the members of the party ahead of the primary election to stick with the best aspirant in the party, urging them not to trade their future for monetary sake to deliver Osun from bad governance.
He said, ”We are here today because Osun West Youth are here to display our support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO) as our 2026 governorship aspirant under the platform of APC, and by God’s grace, he will emerge as our next governor in Osun State by August 8, 2026.
“Our Progressive party is a party that has rules, guidelines, and we are very optimistic because, going by having all the characteristics of having the best candidate, we have everything in Bola Oyebamiji, so we are very optimistic that the ticket of the APC belongs to him.
“Our expectations and outcome should be made clear to our elders and leaders in the party; they will call on all the aspirants to let them know we already have our candidate, which is Bola Oyebamiji.
“My message to the youth ahead of the primary election is that we should not trade our future for monetary sake; this is the future that is in our hands, so we should stick together so that we can deliver Osun from bad governance,” he said.
Earlier in the remark, the Osun West senatorial youth leader APC, Imran Adekunle, urged the leaders of the party at the apex level to zone the ticket to the Osun West senatorial district.
According to him, we have been pleading with our leaders to zone the party ticket to the Osun West Senatorial District.
“As of today, we are fully prepared for the election. I want to urge our youth in this district that we should be in unity and support our district to produce the Governor in 2026,” he added.
