Nigeria Environment Outlook 2025: Government, Advocacy and Industry Leaders Unite to Advance a Greener, More Resilient Future

Environment Africa Magazine, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment and

powered by NatureHedge, is set to host the Nigeria Environment Outlook 2025 in Lagos this week —

Friday, October 17 — a high-level platform uniting government leaders, business executives, and

sustainability experts to chart new pathways for Nigeria’s environmental progress.

Themed “Shaping a Greener Present for a Sustainable and Resilient Future,” the event will explore

strategies for strengthening public–private partnerships, promoting environmental compliance, and

mainstreaming sustainability across key national sectors. The Outlook seeks to align Nigeria’s green

policy ambitions with tangible, collaborative action.

Top 100 Environmental and Sustainability Professionals to Be Honoured

A major highlight of the programme will be the presentation of the 2nd Edition of Nigeria’s Top 100

Environmental Professionals, a recognition that celebrates exceptional individuals shaping

environmental innovation, research, and policy transformation nationwide.

The inaugural edition, released in 2024, honoured pioneers of environmental leadership and

advocacy. This second edition continues that tradition by spotlighting a new generation of leaders

driving climate resilience, circular economy integration, green enterprise and sustainability in

Nigeria.

Dialogue and Collaboration for Environmental Action

The Nigeria Environment Outlook 2025 will feature an address by the Honourable Minister of

Environment, H.E Balarabe Abbas Lawal, invited as Special Guest of Honour. Incidentally, the Honourable Minister is a nominee of the 2025 Top100 Environmental Professionals listing.

Keynote address will be given by Dr Eugene Itua, Executive Director of the African Green

Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI); with the event hosting two panel discussions, and a thematic breakout session focused on green economy pathways, sustainable infrastructure, and institutional accountability across 13 thematic multi-engagement themes.

Policymakers, academics, and private sector leaders will exchange insights on how cross-sectoral cooperation can accelerate national sustainability goals.

According to Sam Nwosu, Editor-in-Chief of Environment Africa Magazine, “This year’s Outlook is not just a review — it’s a rallying point for collaboration. Nigeria’s environmental future depends on shared commitment between government, industry, and civil society to translate ideas into measurable, lasting impact.”

Multi-Sectoral Support for Sustainability

The 2025 edition enjoys support from both public and private stakeholders, including Sterling Oil

Exploration & Energy Production Company (SEEPCO), Heirs Energies, and the Asteven Group.

Institutional and civil society partners include the Civil Society Strategy Group on SDGs (CSOSG-SDGs), the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Associations Alliance (REEEA–A), and the

Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) — reflecting a broad coalition committed to driving

Nigeria’s environmental and climate action agenda.
